NS Design CR5M Upright Bass - Amber

The NXTa Active Series Double Bass, whose electronics are fully based around the ,share the classic body design, ergonomics and performance supportoptions of the CR and EU Series. Available in 4 and 5 stringconfigurations, these instruments are produced in the Czech Republic bythe same craftsmen who build NS Design's most advanced instruments.

Arco and Pizzicato techniques have almost unlimited expressivepotential, thanks to the Polar Pickup System. A convenient switch allowsselection of the traditional arco mode for percussive attack anddynamic bowed response, or pizzicato mode for a smooth, sustained tone.

Dual Mode Output - The new dual mode signal outputelectronics of the NXTa take the convenience, versatility andperformance capability of the NXT to another level.

Active Mode - Using ,the NXTa connects into any AC outlet for 60 seconds, powering thecapacitor-powered active circuit for 16 hours from the time of thecharge. The instrument can then be plugged straight into any low or highimpedance device, no direct box necessary. Since there is no signalloss over the full frequency spectrum of the instrument, thefundamentals of every note remain clear and strong, even with extra-longcables.

Passive Mode - The NXTa can be played in this modewhen using a direct box or an amplifier with high impedance input. (Thismode provides performance capabilities identical to the original NXT.)

Eco-Friendly Operation - NXTa instruments are battery-free, eliminating the hassle and cost of batteries while helping protect our environment.

The solid maple body and neck, together with the graduatedfingerboard, deliver a rich, full tone that rings true for every note.Asymmetrical fingerboard relief facilitates an even 'growl' from thehigher strings and a clear, powerful lower register. The adjustablebridge and truss rod allow for low, fast action, or for higher stringsettings that encourage the traditional acoustic player to 'dig in' withgusto.

and most traditional acoustic strings fit all NS Double Basses,allowing the player to select from a wide range, each with a uniquesound and feel. In combination with the easy adjustment of basic set-upparameters, the NXTa Series Bass is adaptable to many different stylesof music.

GIG BAG AND FLIGHT CASE: The NXTa double bassincludes a padded gig bag that has a pouch for tripod stand, a bowcompartment and room for the charger and accessories. The loaded gig bagwill fit in the overhead compartment of most commercial aircraft.  Anoptional hard-shell flight case is available for the NXTa double bass.

PERFORMANCE SUPPORT SYSTEMS

:Standard with the NXTa, black painted steel, fully adjustable,self-standing tripod design. Folds for easy storage and fits into theNXT gig bag. Weight is 2.7 kg (6 lbs.).

: Optional, fully adjustable steel tripod stand. Weight is 3.6kg (8 lbs.).

:The optional Bass End Pin Stand offers full freedom of movement.Height, tilt and "right bout" angle are fully adjustable providing amore conventional feel. Weight 3 kg (7 lbs).

:To hold the instrument upright for on-stand performance or when not inuse, the Bass End Pin Stand can be attached to the CR Tripod Stand  (notcompatible with the NXT Tripod Stand) using the optional End Pin StandConversion Kit.

:This optional support system has a pivoting friction hub that holds theinstrument firmly in place close to the body.  Attached with a guitarstyle strap to its two support arms, the system allows the instrument tobe moved into virtually any position in relation to the hands and bodyas it is played. Weight is .45 kg (1 lbs.).

:This optional accessory is a lightweight frame structure that allowsfull mobility to perform in standing or upright position, holding theinstrument out from the body similar to the reference in traditionalpositioning. The system is supported by a single guitar style strapextending over the left shoulder.  Weight is 0.68kg (1.5 lbs.).

TRANSPORT

GIG BAG: A padded gig bag is included as a standardaccessory. It has a stand compartment, bow compartment, charger andaccessory pocket, handle and adjustable shoulder strap. Loaded weight is11.2 kg (25 lbs.) including stand, and it fits in the overhead luggagecompartment of most commercial aircraft.
